Doo Dah Nights 2016 Performers
Doo Dah Days will be back Friday, July 7, 2017, watch for updates.
7:45 – 8:45 Prof. Guibert and the 1913 Blue & Gray Reunion Band
This brass band of Civil War reenactors offers a stirring mix of patriotic melodies, waltzes, and, of course, Stephen Foster tunes. In 2013, drummer Jim Smith marched from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg in remembrance of Peter Guibert’s original 1913 march. They were such a hit last year, that we brought them back for this indoor setting.
9:00 – 10:00 Devilish Merry (playing for square dancing)
A Pittsburgh-area folk band with a twist plays not only traditional fare, but also features original compositions. Their Appalachian influence combined with Irish folk music is a perfect mix for dancing or listening. At the start of their set, they’ll invite our audience to join in for a square dance featuring several Stephen Foster tunes.
10:15 – 11:00 The Haygood Paisleys (playing for square dancing)
An old-time string band from Pittsburgh that specializes in square dance music. Pick, sing, swing your partner! They are the house band for the Steel City Squares, an organization that promotes the rich tradition of social dancing to live music. They will combine with Devilish Merry at various times during the square dance.
